Contributions to the community, not just in financial support to initiatives like the Calgary Health Trust and the MS Research, but also in-kind contributions to industry through such initiatives as the Carma Centre of Excellence and the Homebuilders Associations are an important part of Jayman activities.
Corporate Social Responsibility
Jayman is committed to being a good corporate citizen and supporting the communities which we operate and our employees live. Corporate Social Responsibility at Jayman includes the way we conduct our business, how we manage its impact on the environment, how we treat our employees and how we support community activities that aim to solve social problems in the communities in which we work and live. Jay Westman himself has always been a generous philanthropist and has donated significant time and money to many different causes over the years. It is in this spirit of community giving that we bring corporate social responsibility initiatives to life at Jayman.
Here are some examples of recent community initiatives that Jayman has made major contributions to:
Jayman BUILT MS Walk - 2015 to 2019Jayman BUILT is proud to once again partner with the MS Society of Canada as title sponsors of the MS Walks of Alberta, which will now be called the Jayman BUILT MS Walk. Having raised over $2.3 million each year with more than 7000 participants, these walks are the MS Society's signature event, and one we couldn't be happier to be a part of.
The Rockyview Invitational Gold Tournament - 2014 to 2016Jayman BUILT is proud to co-host the annual Rockyview Golf Tournament at Priddis Greens Golf Course in support of the Rockyview Hospital. In 2015, Jayman BUILT raised over $1million dollars at this event.
Calgary Stampeders - 2016 SeasonJayman BUILT is proud to partner with the Calgary Stampeders for their 2016 Season and engage with the fans through Little Miss Outrider, 4 Quarter Break Features, and the Quick Six Touchdown Celebrations.
Stampeders Labour Day Kick Off Event - Sunday August 30th, 2015Join Calgary Stampeders Jon Cornish and Charleston Hughes, Outrider Cheerleaders, and Ralph the Dog on Saturday, Sunday August 30th at the Jayman Modus Ebony showhomes in Mahogany at 263 Mahogany Way for an afternoon of family fun, ice cream and a chance to win a special game day package complete with 4 tickets to this year's Labour Day Classic football game.
Hitting MS Hard with the Flames and Oilers - 2014/2015 SeasonJayman is once again Hitting Hard for MS in partnerships with the Edmonton Oilers and Calgary Flames to benefit and raise awareness for Albertans living with multiple sclerosis. For every regular season hit, Jayman will donate $100 to the MS Society of Canada. The last program ran from 2007-2009 and raised over $175,000.
Fighting MS by raising funds for the MS Society has always been an important cause for the team at Jayman. Three generations of the Westman family have been impacted by neurological or autoimmune disorders, as have the friends and family of many Jayman team members.
Alberta has one of the highest rates of MS in the world with over 14,000 Albertans currently living with the disease.
Light Up Cochrane - 2014 to 2018Jayman will be the activity sponsor at the 30th annual Light Up Cochrane event, a family focused group of activities, food, and drink just off of Cochrane's beautiful main street. Attendees can also donate food and gifts to families in need or enter a raffle to win some great prizes.
Honens Open Air Festival - September 4th to 7th, 2014Go back to the days of the early 1910's at this year's outdoor classical music festival where Jayman will be a presenting sponsor. With four days of music and shows to whisk you away to the age of ragtime and tango music, you're sure to enjoy this collection of talented artists.

MS Walk & Run - Calgary & Edmonton - 2014Jayman is proud to be the new official sponsor of the Team Photos and Awards at the 2014 MS Walk & Run in Calgary and Edmonton. Fighting multiple sclerosis by contributing to MS awareness and raising funds for the MS Society is an important cause for the employees at Jayman.
Like many Albertans, multiple sclerosis has impacted many of Jayman's employees and families.

The Henry Burris All-Star Weekend 2009 - 2015Jayman was one of the title sponsors for the Henry Burris All Star Weekend in support of Big Brothers Big Sisters. Not only does Jayman sponsor this event but some of our employees volunteer at it to.
Jayman Aquatic Centre - 2014Jayman is thrilled to announce their new sponsorship of the new state-of-the-art Aquatic & Curling Centre in Cochrane. The Jayman Aquatic Centre will include a lap pool, leisure pool, wave pool, water slide, and hot tub. Jayman's dedicated history of supporting the community and our commitment to Cochrane made it an easy decision.
University of Calgary - 2014Jay Westman has donated $5 million to the University of Calgary's Haskayne School of Business to educating business leaders for the real estate industry. The Westman Centre for Real Estate Studies will offer academic and research programs and serve as an industry resource through its community outreach activities. Today's donation from Jay supports the school's aim to offer a full, undergraduate concentration in real estate and an MBA specialization in the next two years.
Provincial Sponsor for the Mother's Day Run & Walk - Calgary (2010-2016) & Edmonton (2013-2016)Jayman was the provincial sponsor for the Mother's Day Run & Walk in support of the Calgary Health Trust and the Stollery Children's Hospital Foundation raising over $700,000 again this year.
Theatre Calgary Sponsor 2011 - 2014Jayman is a proud partner of Theatre Calgary and was the sponsor of Mary Poppin's in 2014.
Camp Kindle - Kids Cancer Care - 2013Jayman is contributing $750,000 over 3 years to Camp Kindle. Over 3000 kids with cancer will attend Camp Kindle in 2013. Camp Kindle is a place of healing the mind and body and a place where families can renew relationships disrupted by disease.
SAIT Founding Builder - $1,000,000 - 2013The purpose of this initiative was to assist SAIT in the funding of the construction of a new trades and technology training complex. The Trades & Technology Complex is now a reality! The 740,000 square-foot expansion is an award winning, state-of-the-art education facility. This complex was designed with one purpose in mind - to answer the call for an additional 8,100 students and enhance their ability to learn and launch their careers.
Founding Builders Certification Project - $500,000 - 2013This donation supported the development of a curriculum for non-certified trades in the residential home building industry.
Jay Westman Honorary DegreeOn May 31st, 2013, Jay Westman was awarded an honorary Bachelor of Science degree (in Construction Project Management) from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT). At the age of 21, Jay started attending SAIT and took several weekend and evening courses while working full-time in the business. Jay's dedication to lifelong learning led him to take Residential Estimating, Commercial Estimating, and ultimately earned his Business Administration Degree in April 1984.

Jay credits SAIT for a large part of his personal and business success and when the opportunity arose for Jay to acknowledge SAIT's influence in his life, he, along with a group residential home building industry leaders came together in January 2010 as Founding Builders to support the following initiatives:
Affordable Housing Initiative - The Mustard Seed - 2012Jayman has committed $250,000 to a building project supporting Calgary's homeless with housing solutions while helping them transition into the community. We will also be helping to "finish" the building with Jayman volunteers (painting, assembling furniture etc). The first residents should be moving in at the end of 2013
Employee Initiated Community Investment
As a Platinum member of Canada's Top 50, Jayman is also proud to be committed to giving priority to community initiatives in which Jayman employees and their families actively participate. There are numerous smaller scale opportunities that arise from staff and community level relationships that are appropriately aligned with our values and principles. Jayman supports staff with their chosen charities in numerous ways including: monetary contributions, work time allocated to actively participate in charity events and offers the use of Jayman offices for meetings, etc.
